Douro Wines

Gastronomy & Drink

Steep schist terraces, native grapes, and table wines now rival the Port that made the region famous.

The Douro Valley is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world, established in 1756. It is best known for Port, but since the 1990s the region has built an international reputation for unfortified red and white wines from the same grapes.
