The Grand Portugal Experience: A 14-Day Journey from Lisbon to the Algarve

Day by day

1. Day 1 — Arrival in Lisbon & Introduction Tour
   Upon your arrival at Lisbon Airport, your private driver/guide will be waiting to greet you. We'll transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Once you're settled, we’ll embark on a panoramic introductory tour of the city's main avenues and squares, providing a fantastic overview and setting the stage for the days to come.    Today is dedicated to exploring Lisbon's most iconic neighborhoods. We'll delve into the age of discovery in Belém, visiting the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery. You'll also taste the original Pastéis de Belém.
3. Day 3 — Sintra's Palaces, Cabo da Roca & Cascais Coast
   Prepare for a fairytale day as we travel to the enchanting town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll have the opportunity to explore one of its magical palaces, such as the colorful Pena Palace or the mystical Pena Palace. Afterward, we will journey to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, before returning to Lisbon along the glamorous coastal road through Cascais and Estoril.
4. Day 4 — Fátima's Faith, Nazaré's Waves & Óbidos' Walls
   We journey north to explore three of Portugal’s most captivating sites. First, we visit the Sanctuary of Fátima, a world-renowned center of pilgrimage. Next, we head to the coast to witness the powerful waves of Nazaré, famous for its giant surf. We'll conclude the day in the beautifully preserved medieval village of Óbidos, where you can walk its ancient walls and taste the traditional Ginjinha liqueur.
5. Day 5 — Lisbon at Leisure
   Today is yours to enjoy Lisbon at your own pace. Revisit a favorite spot, explore the trendy Chiado and Bairro Alto districts for shopping, delve into the world of tiles at the National Tile Museum, or simply relax at a sidewalk café, soaking in the city's vibrant atmosphere. Your driver/guide is available for recommendations or transfers within the city.
6. Day 6 — Knights Templar Legacies: Tomar & Almourol
   Delve into the mysterious history of the Knights Templar with a visit to Tomar. Explore the magnificent Convent of Christ, a former Templar stronghold and a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will also see the stunning Almourol Castle, dramatically situated on a small island in the Tagus River, offering a glimpse into the military architecture of the Templars.

   We travel north towards Porto, stopping en route in the charming city of Aveiro. We'll enjoy a stroll through the city center before continuing our journey to Porto, where you will check into your hotel and have the evening to settle in.
8. Day 8 — Porto's Historic Heart & Port a wine cellar
   Immerse yourself in the vibrant soul of Porto. We'll begin in the Ribeira district, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its colorful houses lining the Douro River. We will visit the iconic Lello Bookstore, admire the intricate tilework of the São Bento Train Station, and climb the Clérigos Tower for breathtaking panoramic views of the city. In the afternoon, we'll cross the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge to Vila Nova de Gaia, the historic home of Port wine. Here, you'll enjoy a guided tour and tasting at a renowned Port cellar, delving into the rich history and production of this world-famous fortified wine.
9. Day 9 — The Enchanting Douro Valley: Wine & River Scenery
   Today is dedicated to one of the world's oldest and most beautiful demarcated wine regions: the Douro Valley.     Enjoy a full day to discover Porto at your own pace. You might choose to cross the Dom Luís I Bridge on foot for stunning views, explore the art galleries of Rua Miguel Bombarda, shop along the bustling Rua de Santa Catarina, or simply relax at a riverside café in Gaia, watching the traditional Rabelo boats float by. Your driver is available for city transfers upon request.
11. Day 11 — South to the Algarve via Historic Évora
    We travel south to the sun-kissed Algarve region. Along the way, we'll stop in Évora, the capital of the Alentejo.
